Campus History

Hansberry College Prep is one of the Noble Network of Charter Schools’ newest campuses.  HCP’s doors opened in August 2012 as Noble Auburn Gresham College Prep, under the name of the community in which our school resides. In July 2013, after much consideration the campus changed its name to Hansberry College Prep in honor of the late Lorraine Hansberry. Ms. Hansberry was a well-known African American writer and playwright who grew up on Chicago's South side and worked to combat racial segregation in Chicago in the 1950's and 1960's. Ms. Hansberry is best known for her play A Raisin in the Sun. We will graduate and send our first class of HCP Scholars off to college in 2016.  Learn morea bout Ms. Hansberry by clicking the button below.

As Noble's only IB campus, we will offer students a rigorous education on par with other Noble campuses and increased opportunities for more advanced coursework. One of the perks of attending a founding school is that the students are founders as well. If there is a club or activity that our students would like to participate in that is not yet offered, they are encouraged to demonstrate their leadership by creating that club.
